Shiitake (Lentinula edodes)

Shiitake mushroom (Lentinula edodes) has many uses. Primarily as food, since it has great taste and it is also known as mushroom of huge nutritional and medical value.

The most important ingridients of Shiitake mushroom are proteins , fat, essential amino acids, vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, A2, C, D,E, K and mineral salts (calcium, phosphor, iron,  potassium and magnesium).Consumption of Shiitake mushrooms may affect the immune system, possess antibacterial  and antiviral properties, reduce platelet aggregation. Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) contains all the essential amino acids except the tryptophan, vitamins B1, B2, B6, B7, vitamin P and many minerals: iodine, selenium, sodium, potassium, zinc, iron, phosphorus.  Also contains chlorophyll that accelerates cell regeneration. Fiber cereals of Oyster mushroom bind and expel all accumulated harmful cubstances.


Shiitake Shiitake name comes from the Japanese language word means shii tree, ie. oak, to take the word means mushroom.
Shiitake mushroom grows in forests, on the stumps of oak.
Cultivation requires abundant irrigation and harvest period lasts from three to five years.
